In the course of several years, the company went through several iterations of Table. My god, the Tables in Evernote is simply broken! I am not expecting an Excel-like feature, but it is unusable, in my opinion. In Notion, users can easily create Multiple Views, Filters and Sort Criteria per Database. It is one of the biggest deal-breaker for me. It is 2022, and Evernote still has not implemented a per notebook sorting and view option. Here are some of my points that I strongly felt I had enough with Evernote. As my notes expanded, the platform's frustration started to kick in. But in the last 5 to 6 years, I realised my needs for or from a note-taking application were somewhat matured and more developed, or I would say it became sophisticated. So credit where credit's due, I would like to applaud them for doing it.įor most periods, the application and service were acceptable. It enhanced my productivity and creativity. I loved the idea of clipping web articles, creating journals, and syncing across all my devices and computers. The idea of "Cloud" and Evernote's branding of "Remember Everything" was exciting and revolutionary. It was also the same time I first got my iPhone. Little History When I first discovered Evernote in 2008, it blew my mind. And I would like to thank u/changobenson for developing it! He is extremely responsive if you have any issues with his Tool. This migration was only made possible using enex2notion. I can create diverse structures for the various databases to host notes, articles and ideas and view them in multiple ways. Which gives me more freedom and customisation. During my migration process, I created different fields and properties for different notebooks (Databases). I soon realise that I am more of an architect than a librarian or a gardener. But, it was really worthwhile for me to plan the next decade of my life. One by one! It was a time-consuming and tedious process. I was delighted to delete and purge old notes and articles that were outdated and irrelevant.

I believe there might be some users who might find my little write-up helpful.ĭuring this migration process, I took it upon myself to have a retrospective look at my entire 6K notes within 80 plus notebooks. So I thought of listing down my thought process. However, after an extensive search and testing (For about 6 to 8 months), I decided to make Notion my new home.

As a user of both Mac and Windows, having a cross-platform application was one of my priorities too. Not just try on a surface level but really dive deep into all the advanced workflows.

I have tried most of them like Nimbus Notes, DEVONthink, and so on. And we all have different workflows and criteria. So there is no one platform to rule them all. Each to cater to different needs and workflows. There are several Apps and SaaS platforms in the note-taking and productive space. And I realise that I became an article and notes hoarder in the span of 14 years. However, as a long time Evernote user, I got dissatisfied with their implementation Removing features and constant performance issues, to name a few! The platform is plagued with technical debt.īackground I consider myself a power user, and I have about 6K notes in Evernote, spanning over 80 plus notebooks. I have nothing against Electron Application if it is done right. Their recent shift to unify all their App via Electron seemed great on paper. We live in an age where it is hard to avoid Electron Applications. Most importantly, not listening to its users. With the roulette of changing CEOs, there seems to be a lack of foresight in Evernote's leadership direction and innovation. And to be fair, there are far worst tech companies out there. At times, I felt as if I was speaking to a wall. To make things even worse, their support was even abysmal. Like most users, I got frustrated, disappointed and aggravated with the Evernote platform. I thought of starting the new year on something bright! And I thought of sharing my journey and thought process.
